Improvement of Learning and Teaching in Mathematics and Science Grants Available to University Faculty

Application Deadlines:
May 1st, August 1st, and Nov 1st

The South East Ohio Center for Excellence in Mathematics and Science (SEOCEMS) invites proposals for improving learning and teaching in university mathematics and science, with a desire for strengthening the connections between content and pedagogy through investigation. The SEOCEMS mission includes building stronger connections between schools and universities to result in improved programs and greater recruitment into mathematics and science, including improved teacher preparation for those subjects. Collaboration among Arts & Science and Education faculty, and/or graduate students is encouraged.

The grants may range up to $5,000 for single projects that may extend to 18 months. No Indirect Costs are permitted. Recipients are expected to investigate and assess the effectiveness of proposed activities, and disseminate results in collaboration with the SEOCEMS. Grant funds may be used in various ways such as to purchase equipment or supplies, support travel or cover additional expenses that are essential to the proposed investigation. The grant recipient will be regarded as the "owner" of the items purchased upon completion of the grant-funded project. Priority will be given to collaborative projects and with favor for those projects likely to result in a presentation or paper.

Electronic submission of proposals in MS Word will be accepted by the application deadlines.
